OralID® cancer screening provides a quick, comfortable, and noninvasive way to examine the mouth for tissue changes that may require closer evaluation. The handheld device uses fluorescence technology to help our dental team identify abnormalities that may be difficult to see during a routine visual examination.

During the screening, a special blue light is directed into the mouth while the dentist examines the lips, cheeks, tongue, gums, throat, and other oral tissues. Healthy tissue and potentially abnormal tissue respond differently under the light, helping reveal suspicious areas. The screening takes only a few minutes and does not require rinses, dyes, or radiation.

Regular oral cancer screenings are an important part of preventive dental care because early changes may develop without noticeable pain or symptoms. If an unusual area is detected, your dentist will explain the findings and recommend appropriate monitoring, additional evaluation, or referral when necessary. OralID supports early detection but does not, by itself, provide a cancer diagnosis.
